Concordancing: advanced
In this second part we have seen two "advanced" concordancing strategies, that allow you to:
- search for non-sequential words (i.e. when you want the corpus to suggest different alternatives for a gap in a sequence of words);
- restrict searches by specifying the part-of-speech of a given word or lemma.
Collocation: caveat
A collocation display can be very revealing, giving you a compact sketch of a word behaviour and hiding less central uses from view. However, it is not always easy to interpret, and can also at times be misguiding, since a lot of information is lost.
Therefore you should always make sure that you check conclusions based on collocation displays against concordance evidence.
