In this activity we reverse the translation direction and go from English into Italian.

Here is a sentence from a wine-tasting guide:

In good, ripe years, autumn warmth and humidity create ideal conditions for the Chenin Blanc grapes to be affected by botrytis, and the grapes rot and shrivel, concentrating sweetness and preserving acidity.

The question here is how you would translate to be affected by botrytis into Italian. The noun botrytis, though specialised, should not cause major problems, since a similar word is used in both languages.

But what verb should we employ with it?
